Kaur started learning music at the age of 5. Her father then, adviced her to sing Gurbani. Asees got trained under Ustad Puran Shahkoti and received several accolades for her version of Gurbani. While Asees was in her college, she was in touch with the Music Composer, Salim Merchant, who after listening to her voice called her to Mumbai to give auditions for singing.

Asees then participated in Awaz Punjab Di following which she relocated to Mumbai and participated in Indian Idol.
