Dev Idle: Code Studio Tycoon GAME
Note: the game is currently in French only.
TAP, SHIP, GET PAID
Every keystroke writes code, the CI deploys, the client pays. At first it's you, a garage and a keyboard. Then the office fills up: one intern, ten, four hundred. Juniors, seniors, a Lead, a 10x Dev, an Architect, a VP of Engineering. The pyramid is bought from the bottom, just like real life: no VP without someone to write the code.
BUILD YOUR TEAM
Eighteen roles, from the Intern to the Sentient Compiler, plus the support staff who keep the company running: DevOps, Sales, Agile Coach, UX Designer, HR, Growth Hacker. At fifty hires, each role picks its path: mentor, machine or strategist.
SELL YOUR COMPANY (AGAIN)
Product startup, design studio, QA shop, consulting firm, agency, government contractor, game studio, crypto, video production: nine markets, each with its rules written in plain sight. Every exit pays science to your career and net worth to you; you keep your network and start over stronger. Exit technologies and finance characters (the CFO with the infinite spreadsheet, the Investment Banker) grow the check. And one day, a fund buys your whole career.
A LIFE OUTSIDE THE CODE
Spend your net worth: from an attic studio to a moon base, by way of the cat and a second-hand scooter. Recruit a legendary team and star them up, from the Intern in Dubai to the Senior in a camper van. No real names were harmed in the making of this game.
OFFICE LIFE, THE REAL ONE
The client who answers the brief six weeks later. The bug that only reproduces on Tuesdays. The empty ticket, waiting on the RACI. The OKR that measures the OKRs. The Thursday reorg. Dozens of events written by someone who has clearly sat through a lot of PI plannings.
ALSO
• A lab of 67 technologies across seven branches
• A pixel-art office that fills up on its own, garage to campus
• A contract to draw each run, from a Series B raise to ISO 42 certification
• A daily standup, a contribution graph, seasons
• Eight IDE themes, home-made synthesized sound, measured haptics
• Honest offline progress: the game moves on while you sleep, nothing decays
Two ads, both optional: a cloud CI build (production ×2) and the night shift (offline earnings doubled). Watch them if you want; the game never forces them on you. No punishing timers, no streaks that break. Dev Idle celebrates, never guilt-trips: a game made by a dev, for people who know what a Friday deploy feels like.
