Ciak — Video Editor

Ciak is a modern video editor, simple and genuinely easy to use. You open it and you already know where to put your hands: clips drag, cuts show, and what you watch while you edit is exactly what comes out of the file. No hidden menus, no watermark on the result, no subscription.

TWENTY VIDEO TRACKS, TWENTY AUDIO, A HUNDRED TEXT
Separate lanes for the footage, the music and the captions. Video tracks stack — the one above covers the one below, and with the green backdrop keyed out you see straight through it — and every track mutes or hides on its own, without touching the others. Twenty is not a number written on the box: it was tested sitting exactly on it.

CLIPS WHERE YOU WANT THEM
The magnet keeps clips in a row and tight together, which is what you want most of the time. Turn it off and they stay where you drop them, with the gaps in between: a gap shows the project background, and it lasts exactly as long as you left it. No hole that closes itself while you are not looking.

WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT COMES OUT
The preview shows the stacked tracks, the gaps and every music track together, the way they will be in the finished file. Nothing is discovered once the encoding is done: you edit while looking at the result.

GREEN SCREEN, IN TWO TAPS
Key out green, blue or black. Adjust how much to remove and how soft the edge is, and watch the cut-out while you adjust it, on your own frame. Then put whatever you like underneath: that is what stacked tracks are for.

REAL TRANSITIONS
Twelve of them: cross dissolve, from black, from white, four wipes and four slides. With the duration you choose, not one fixed for everybody.

TEXT THAT SHOWS
Five typefaces, colour, bold, italic, outline, box. You choose where the caption sits, how long it lasts and how it appears. Captions move with your finger, wherever you want them.

FRAMING AND COLOUR
Move closer to what matters with two fingers, and the framing can travel while the clip plays: from where it starts to where it ends. Then six filters with adjustable strength, plus brightness, contrast, saturation, temperature and vignette — with previews made on your own frame, not on a sample photo.

THE MUSIC DUCKS BY ITSELF
One tap and the music drops where somebody speaks, then comes back up as soon as they stop. Volume is no longer a single number: it is a curve that follows the edit.

EXPORT THE WAY YOU NEED
Format (MP4 H.264, MP4 H.265, audio only in M4A or MP3), resolution up to 4K, frames per second and bitrate. The estimated size is shown before you start, so you do not find out afterwards.

YOUR FILES ARE WHERE YOU EXPECT
Exported videos land in the gallery, in Movies > Ciak, or in the folder you pick. They do not vanish somewhere you cannot find.

A QUEUE, NOT A WAIT
Line up the edits to export and carry on working. Exporting continues even if you leave the app, and a notification tells you when it is done. A finished job can be redone without redoing the choices.

THERE IS A PC VERSION TOO
Ciak also exists for Windows and works together with the app: projects move from one to the other, over the local network when phone and computer are on the same Wi-Fi. A long export can be done by the computer while the phone stays free.

FOUR LANGUAGES
Italian, English, French and German. The language is chosen inside the app, without changing the one on the phone.

WHAT YOU CREATE STAYS YOURS
Ciak collects data about how you use the app — which tool you open, which errors happen — and nothing else. Never the content: your videos, your photos and the text you write never leave the phone. It asks you on first launch, and you can change your mind whenever you like.
