App not available in your country: why, and what is legitimate
The Play Store says an app is not available in your country and gives no reason. Behind that message sit three quite different situations, and telling them apart matters, because the reasonable response to each is not the same.

What is straightforwardly fine
When the developer has not published in your country and there is no licensing or legal reason, installing the developer's own build is ordinary. It is the same file, signed with the same key, doing the same thing.
- Check the developer's own site first Many publish an APK directly, particularly open source projects and smaller studios.
- Take the build matching your device Architecture and Android version, exactly as with any other install.
- Expect no automatic updates Play will not update an app it does not offer in your region, so updating is a manual habit.
- Accept that support may be limited An app not published in your market may not have local payment, local language or local customer service.
Publishes builds directly and works identically everywhere, which makes it a good example of the category.
Also distributes its own builds, and is often the first thing people need when a regional restriction bites.
Same pattern, and useful because a browser frequently substitutes for an unavailable app entirely.

Content licensing deserves a plain statement. Streaming catalogues differ by country because the rights were sold country by country. Presenting yourself as being somewhere you are not to access a catalogue breaches the terms you agreed to, and services increasingly detect and act on it.
When the local app is the better app
The reverse situation is worth mentioning: in many markets the locally built app is genuinely better than the international one, because it integrates with local payment, transport and messaging.

Built for markets with slow connections and cheap phones, and it does that job better than the global browsers.
