THE GAME OF THE VIKINGS
Hnefatafl ("king's table") was played across Scandinavia, Iceland, Britain and Ireland long before chess arrived in the North. Its family, the tafl games, includes Tablut from Lapland, Brandubh from Ireland and the modern Copenhagen rules used in tournaments today.
