Murmur: Starling Murmuration

One finger. Thousands of starlings. One hawk. A journey with no end.

Murmur puts a real murmuration in your hand. Hold anywhere and your flock gathers tight and dives; let go and it spreads out and climbs. Weave the whole swirling cloud over church spires and copses, between hot-air balloons, past windmills and wind turbines, under towering storm clouds and through the arches of a viaduct, all the way home to roost.

A LIVING MURMURATION
Every starling is simulated: up to two thousand birds that follow their neighbors, ripple when startled, burst apart when the hawk dives and flow back together. Fly low over hedges and wires to pick up strays, and watch streams of starlings join your flock as the evening goes on.

OUTFLY THE HAWK
A sparrowhawk hunts the open sky. Hold your flock tight and it can't pick a bird out; drift high and spread out and it will scatter you. Hold together through a strike for big bonus points.

A JOURNEY THROUGH THE SEASONS
Every roost you reach opens the next evening, and every two roosts the season turns. Golden summer evenings. Autumn gales with leaves on the wind and trees lit gold and red. Winter's pale skies, snow on the fields and bare branches. Spring blossom and petals drifting past. Moonlit nights full of stars and fireflies. Forty named evenings, from Midsummer Meadows to Frost Meadows, Bonfire Hills to Aurora Hills, and then round again, each faster and busier than the last but always flyable.

HOW FAR CAN YOU GO?
Your distance counts from the very first evening and never resets, however far you fly. Your furthest ever is marked in the sky with a column of golden light, so you always know when you are about to pass it. Every roost makes your points worth more, so the highest scores come from going far.

THE DAILY FLIGHT
One new route every day, the same for every player in the world. One life, no boosts: pure skill. Fly it as often as you like, climb today's leaderboard and keep your streak going day after day, with an optional evening reminder.

MISSIONS, RANKS AND FLOCK LOOKS
Three missions at a time: reach a roost, make close passes, hold through the hawk's strikes, gather starlings, bring a big flock home. Finish all three to raise your flock's rank and start your next journey with extra birds. Fly further to earn new looks for your whole murmuration: Golden, Rose Dusk, Silver Frost, Ember, Midnight, and the Aurora for a week of daily flights.
