RIFT GAME
Build sets and runs, then RIFT an opponent meld: lay one legal card on it and the meld becomes yours. They can take it back the same way. After five additions, that meld locks.
Each player is dealt ten cards from a standard 52-card deck. A turn is draw, meld, one RIFT, then discard. Your first meld must be worth at least 15. After that, any legal meld counts.
Aces score 1 and can sit low or high in a run, never both. Face cards score 10. Number cards score their face value. Melds add to your score. Cards left in your hand subtract from it.
Call RIFT OUT when you have opened, you have at most two cards left in hand, and you do not control the active RIFT. Your opponent gets one last turn. The first player to 100 wins the match. A tie plays another round.
PLAY YOUR WAY

COINS
You start with a purse of coins. Each table has an ante. You and your rival put that ante in, and the higher score takes the pot. A tie returns your ante. Coins stay in the game. They are not real money and cannot be cashed out.
Easy antes 5. Normal antes 20. Hard antes 50. A friend match uses the Normal ante.
Steal the meld. Leave nothing in hand.
