■ What you compare never leaves your device

Contracts, internal documents, a draft you are not ready to show. The things you cannot show anyone are often the very things you need to compare.

Diff Local does all the work on your device. No account, no sign-up, and what you compare is never sent to a server or stored anywhere. Comparing uses no connection at all.

[Text] Paste what you copied. You can also send text straight from another app's Share menu, so there is no copying back and forth. Share twice in a row and the comparison starts without pressing a thing.

[Files] Source code, config files, CSV, logs. Pick two from your device's file picker and the differences line up, line by line.

[Folders] Put two folders against each other and get them sorted into added, removed, changed and identical. It checks the contents, not just size and timestamp, so rewrites that keep the same size are found too.

[Images] Two images of the same size are compared pixel by pixel, with a match percentage. What changed is overlaid in red on the original, so you can see exactly where. Tiny colour shifts are treated as equal, so a re-saved JPEG does not come back as one big difference.

■ You never lose track of which side changed

A and B are shown next to each other, so following what changed is a matter of moving your eyes. There is also a single-column view, and the one you pick stays put even when you rotate the screen.

■ Nothing to distract you while you wait

The comparison uses a low-memory algorithm, so files of several thousand lines work on any device. The more alike two files are, the faster it finishes — everyday “I only changed a little” checks are practically instant.

■ You can go back to that diff from last week

Every comparison is kept in a list automatically, so you never have to hunt for it again. The history stays on your device too.

■ Where there is no signal

On a plane, underground, up a mountain, on a work device with no network. The places where you cannot connect are often exactly where you need to check something.
