Messages is a straightforward app for everyday texting. Send and receive SMS, keep your conversations in order, and find what you need without digging through menus.

Send and receive messages
Write and send text messages, and get new ones as they arrive with notifications you can reply to right away.

Conversations kept in order
Messages are grouped into threads, so an exchange stays in one place and reads top to bottom. Your most recent conversations sit at the top of the inbox.

Contact names, not just numbers
Threads are shown with the name and photo from your contacts, so you can see at a glance who wrote to you. Numbers that aren't saved appear as they are.

Search your messages
Find an old message or a conversation by typing a word, a name or a number.

Star, archive and block
Keep an important message within easy reach, move quieter conversations out of the inbox, and block senders you don't want to hear from.

Schedule a message
Write a message now and have it sent at the time you choose.

Lock the app
Add an optional lock, using your device PIN, pattern or fingerprint, to keep your messages private if someone else picks up your phone.

A clean, simple experience
An uncluttered layout, readable type, and everyday actions kept one tap away.

Permissions
Android requires an app to be set as your default messaging app before it can send and receive SMS, so you will be asked to make that choice.

Contacts access is used to show conversations with the right name and photo.
