Permissions & Data Use

BeeKid is a parental monitoring tool installed on a child's device with parental consent. To enforce the rules the parent sets, BeeKid uses the following sensitive Android capabilities:

• Accessibility Service: BeeKid uses Android's Accessibility API solely to detect the package name of the app currently in the foreground on the child's device. This is the only reliable way on Android to enforce real-time app blocking and screen-time rules set by the parent. When a restricted app is opened, BeeKid displays a block screen over it. BeeKid does NOT read, record, or transmit the content of any screen, keystrokes, passwords, messages, photos, contacts, browsing history, or any personal data. The Accessibility API is not used to provide accessibility features to users with disabilities; it is used exclusively for parental content supervision with explicit parental consent, and this is disclosed to the user in-app before the service is enabled.

• Usage Access: Used only to count daily screen time per app so the parent's screen-time limits can be enforced. No app content is accessed.

• Location: Used only to share the child's location with the paired parent account, and only while the parent has enabled location tracking.

• Device Admin: Used only to help prevent a child from uninstalling BeeKid without the parent's approval.

All data is synced directly between the paired parent and child devices through the family's private Firebase account. BeeKid does not sell data and does not share data with third parties for advertising.
