Shutter Fen Stops APP
Shutter Fen Stops is an educational exposure simulator. There are no formulas to memorise and nothing to look up - you move a dial, the scene redraws, and you see what that stop did.
THREE DIALS, ONE LIVE SCENE
Opening, shutter and ISO are whole-stop dials, and each one redraws the scene the moment you move it. Wider openings dissolve the background. Longer shutters smear the moving element. Higher ISO speckles the frame. A stop meter shows how far over or under the scene you are, from minus three to plus three, so the brightness reading and the creative side-effects are visible at the same time.
TWELVE BRIEFS WITH A GOAL, NOT A NUMBER
Freeze the wheel. Silk the water. Keep a street sharp. Lift a flower out of its background. Each brief is scored on exposure plus the specific constraint it sets, so you have to trade one dial against another instead of chasing a single correct answer. Every brief is checked by an exhaustive solver before it is shown to you, which means an unsolvable assignment can never appear.
READ THE NUMBERS WHEN YOU WANT THEM
Equivalent-exposure tables and an EV chart lay out every trade that keeps the same brightness, alongside the sunny-sixteen starting point. Look at them when a result surprises you, or ignore them and keep turning dials.
TEN AWARDS
Frames taken, dials explored, notes read and briefs solved are all tracked, and ten awards mark the milestones.
WHAT IS IN IT
- Learn exposure by moving dials, not by reading formulas
- Blur, motion smear, grain and brightness update on every stop
- Twelve goal-based briefs scored on exposure plus the specific constraint
- EV tables, equivalent exposures and the sunny-sixteen starting point
- Fully offline, no ads, no sound, progress saved on the device
Five tabs: Camera, Briefs, Meter, How and Awards.
Everything runs offline on the device. There is no account, no internet connection required, no advertising and no sound - feedback is visual only, and your progress is saved locally.
