traste pro: guitar scales APP
out, drawn for any key.
The pages are always the same: the major scale in the five CAGED
positions, the pentatonic boxes, the triads by region, the seventh
chords, the harmonic field, the circle of fifths. But they come in
one key, and transposing is left to you. Here every diagram is
generated from the scale and the tuning, so it is right in C, in E
flat and in F sharp, and you pick the key with one tap.
NECK
Where every note is. The whole scale, every octave, from the nut to
the fifteenth fret, with the root marked. Under it, the key's five
CAGED forms, one per row, each with its chord tones and a strip of
the neck showing where the grip sits. They are the anchors every
position hangs off.
SCALES
Every scale in the five CAGED positions, exactly as the sheet prints
them, each named by its form (A form, G form). Major and minor
pentatonic, major and natural minor, blues with the blue note called
out, the seven modes and the arpeggios. The dots show the note or
the degree, and the key's triad can be marked inside the box.
And the two things no sheet prints:
· CONNECT: two neighbouring positions on one neck, with the note
they share drawn hollow. That is where the hand moves across.
· DIAGONAL: the run that crosses the whole neck instead of staying
boxed in. Two and three notes per string for a pentatonic, three
per string for a scale or a mode.
TRIADS
One chord in every region of the neck: the five forms, major and
minor, each as a chord box with the pentatonic around it drawn
underneath and the chord tones ringed. Plus the arpeggio in the five
positions.
SEVENTHS
The seventh chords: major seventh, dominant, minor seventh, half
diminished and diminished. How each one is built, third by third,
from the bottom up; the grips, the open one where it exists and the
E and A forms; and the arpeggio in the five positions.
HARMONY
It leads with the key: the tonic, the scale spelled out and the
seven chords born from it, each with its grip drawn and the mode to
solo over it. Tap a chord and see its mode on the neck without
leaving the key. Plus the circle of fifths, draggable, with your
key's two neighbours marked IV and V and the key signature in the
centre.
THE NECK SIDEWAYS
Any diagram opens full screen, landscape, the way the neck lies
across your lap. The app turns the phone itself and turns it back
when you close.
TUNER AND METRONOME
traste's chromatic tuner, accurate to a fraction of a cent, and a
metronome locked to the audio clock. Both come along, because a
study app that cannot tune the instrument is a second app to open.
ALSO
Four languages, six themes in light and dark, a reference pitch from
432 to 446 Hz. Every screen explains itself with a tap on the "?".
100% OFFLINE
No account, no internet, no ads and no data collection of any kind.
The microphone is the only permission and it serves the tuner alone:
audio is analysed on the device, as it arrives, and nothing is
recorded or sent. A one-time purchase: no subscription and no in-app
purchases.
