Cook the Quest was built to solve a simple problem. Cooking along with YouTube videos is frustrating because you usually have to stop, wash your hands, rewind, and play again just to catch an ingredient amount.
This app changes that. Paste a link from YouTube or a food blog, and the app transforms it into a structured cooking mission.
The YouTube solution
When you import a video, the app displays the clip at the top and generates interactive cards below it. Each card contains the instructions and ingredients for that specific step. The cards have timestamps, so when you tap a step, the video jumps to the exact moment you need. You never have to scrub through a video with dirty hands again.
Meal planner and shopping
Plan your meals for the week using the built-in calendar. When you are ready to shop, a single button generates a complete buy list containing all the ingredients you need for your scheduled recipes. The list automatically excludes items you already have in stock.
Manage your pantry
The app helps you reduce food waste by tracking your fridge and pantry. You will get notifications when ingredients are about to expire. To help you use them up, the app generates "Urgent quests," which are recipe suggestions based specifically on items that are nearing their expiration date.
Home base - Cook together as a family
Create a home base and invite your family to join your cooking adventure. Share ingredients in a common inventory, save recipes together, and compete as a team on the leaderboard. Your combined XP goes up against other households, so see who makes it to the top! Great for families who love cooking together and want to keep their kitchen organized.
Social cooking
Cooking is better with friends. You can add friends to share recipes and see their cooking activity.
Meal swiper: If you and a friend cannot decide what to eat, use the meal swiper. You both swipe through recipes on your own phones, and the app tells you when there is a match.
Co-op mode: Cook a recipe together in real-time. Connect two phones, assign roles like Head chef and Sous chef, and see steps being ticked off on both screens as you work together.
Community market
If you have ingredients you won't use or cooked too much food, you can use the market to trade or gift items to people nearby. It helps reduce waste and connects you with your local community.
Recipe journal and history
It is easy to forget what you did differently in a recipe. The history screen solves this. After every meal, you can add photos and notes to track your changes, ensuring you always have a record of how to replicate your best meals.
