Drelk Bearings APP

🚩 From the start triangle to the last control, a map-and-compass route is really a chain of short legs: a bearing, a distance, a patch of ground. Drelk Bearings keeps that chain on your phone and does the arithmetic while you look at the map.

🗺️ Routes made of legs
Enter each leg as a magnetic bearing, a distance in metres and the terrain you'll cross — track, open land, forest, marsh or climb. Add the control code if the leg ends at one. Keep several routes side by side and switch with one tap.

↩️ Back-bearings, worked out
Every leg shows its back-bearing, so the way home is already written down if the mist rolls in.

🧲 Declination per route
Set the local magnetic declination (east positive, west negative) and each leg also shows its true bearing for matching against the map grid.

👣 Pace counts per terrain
Nobody takes the same stride in a bog as on a gravel track. Store your double-steps per 100 m and your walking pace for each terrain, and every leg gets its own pace count and time estimate. Route totals add up distance, paces and minutes.

🔢 Tap counter
Tap once for every double-step and watch the metres add up on the chosen terrain, with a firmer buzz every ten. Walk a measured 100 m, then save the count straight into your calibration.

🧭 Live steering dial
Pick a leg and the Compass section turns into a steering aid: the dial follows your heading, the orange marker sits on the leg's bearing, and a line of text tells you to turn left or right by how many degrees. Hit the bearing and it says so, with a short pulse. Step through legs with the arrows.

📓 Logbook
Finished a route? Log the real time it took. The logbook lines up your estimate against the clock and gives each outing an accuracy score, so your pace settings get better every weekend.

🎛️ One menu, four sections
Legs, Compass, Pace and Logbook sit behind a single sheet at the top-left — no crowded tab bar.

🔒 Routes, pace settings and outings are saved in the phone's own storage. The app asks for no location access and no network access; the dial runs on the phone's magnetic sensor alone.

⚠️ A phone compass is a helper, not a replacement for a proper baseplate compass and a paper map. Keep it away from keys, zips and car bodies while taking a reading.
