Tacho reads the speed reported by your phone's GPS and shows it on a large, easy-to-read dashboard, while recording every trip as you drive. It is not an internet speed test — it measures how fast you are travelling, and it works with no signal at all.

HOW TACHO MEASURES SPEED
Your phone's GPS chip reports a position and a speed roughly once a second. Tacho validates every reading before it is used, so the number on screen stays steady instead of jumping around:
• Poor-accuracy fixes are rejected, and degraded ones are marked as such
• Impossible jumps between two fixes are discarded
• Stationary GPS drift is filtered out, so a parked vehicle does not "travel"
• Speed is smoothed, with a faster response when you accelerate or brake

Because the measurement comes from GPS and not from your vehicle, Tacho works in any vehicle you happen to be in — and in vehicles with no working speedometer at all.
