tectec

tectec is a recipe app for people who actually cook. It captures recipes from wherever you find them, makes the ingredients and steps machine-readable so the app can help you while you cook, and lets you share what you've made with anyone.

IMPORT FROM ANYWHERE

Paste a link and the recipe builds itself on screen — title, ingredients, and steps land field by field as tectec reads the source.
• Recipe sites and blogs: the life story is stripped away, the recipe is kept.
• Instagram and YouTube: tectec reads the caption or description and follows the "link in bio" when the real recipe lives there. No link at all? It watches the video and reconstructs the recipe from what the cook shows and says.
• Photos: snap a cookbook page, a handwritten card, or a screenshot — multiple photos work for a two-page spread.

BUILT FOR COOKING, NOT JUST READING

Every recipe is parsed into structured ingredients and steps, and that's what makes the cooking features work:
• Scale to any serving count — every quantity recomputes sensibly, even "1 egg".
• Convert units — metric or imperial, °C or °F. Set it once in settings.
• Cook-along — swipe a step or ingredient to scratch it off. tectec remembers where you were, per recipe.
• Steps know their ingredients — the amount shows up right in the step where it's used.

OLIVE, THE COOKING ASSISTANT

Olive is the agent built into tectec, and she always knows which recipe you're looking at.
• Ask about the recipe in front of you: "can I swap the butter for oil?", "how do I scale this to 6?", "what if I don't have miso?"
• Ask her to change a recipe — "make this vegan", "halve the salt" — and the edit lands as a reviewable diff. Nothing is saved until you say so.
• She finds recipes in your library ("the pasta one with the lemon thing") or on the web, and imports the ones you pick.
• Or have her write a brand-new recipe from scratch.

SHARE WHAT YOU COOK

• Every recipe gets a clean share link anyone can read — no account needed on their end.
• Books: shared collections for your household, your friends, your family recipes. Everyone in a book gets the recipes in their own library, with an unread dot when something new lands.
• Your library is private by default. Nothing is public until you share it.
