dukasimpo: inventory and sales APP
dukasimpo is a point of sale and stock book for small shops: a duka, a kiosk, a market stall. You record each sale as it happens, the app takes the items off your inventory, and at any point you can see what the shop has sold, what it earned and what is running low.
It works without a signal. Everything you enter is saved on the phone first, so the app keeps working through a power cut, a dead network or a day out of coverage. When the connection comes back, your records sync to the server on their own. You do not have to remember to press anything.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
Record a sale in a few taps, paid by cash or by M-Pesa, and see the day's total without doing the arithmetic yourself.
Sell loose goods by the kilo or the litre as well as by the piece, so half a kilo of sugar is as quick to record as a loaf of bread.
Scan a barcode with the phone's camera instead of hunting through a list, which is quicker once your shelf has more than a handful of lines.
Keep a running stock count. Add what you receive, and the app subtracts what you sell, so the number on screen is the number on the shelf.
See which items are running low before they run out, on the home screen rather than buried in a report.
Write off stock that has spoiled, broken or gone missing. It comes off the count at once, and the reports show what the losses cost.
Read simple reports of sales, profit and stock by day, week or month, so you can see whether a slow week is unusual or normal.
Give your staff their own sign-in. Each person records sales under their own name, and you decide who can change prices and stock.
Print or share a receipt over Bluetooth for customers who want one.
Save your books as a spreadsheet that opens in any spreadsheet app, and keep today's takings on your home screen with a widget.
Use it in English or Swahili, and in the currency your shop actually trades in.
YOUR RECORDS ARE YOURS
Your data is used to run your shop and nothing else. There are no adverts, no advertising ID, and nothing is sold or shared with anyone. You can delete your account and everything in it from inside the app, or ask us to do it, and nothing is kept afterwards.
dukasimpo is built for shops that cannot rely on a steady connection or an expensive handset. It runs on Android 7.0 and later.
