Messages – SMS & Texting

Messages is a clean, fast SMS app that keeps your texting simple and your inbox under control. No account, no sign-up — set it as your default SMS app and everything is right where you expect it.

Every message stays on your phone. Messages has no server of its own, so your conversations and your backups are never uploaded anywhere.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

• Send and receive SMS and MMS as your default messaging app
• Schedule a message to send later — birthdays, reminders, anything timed
• Archive conversations to clear your inbox without deleting anything
• Recycle Bin holds deleted conversations so a mistake is recoverable
• Private Box hides chosen conversations behind a PIN
• Block numbers you don't want to hear from
• Pin important conversations to the top
• Search across all your messages
• Swipe actions — archive, delete or pin with one gesture
• Back up your SMS to your own device storage and restore them later
• After Call screen — text back, set a callback reminder, or block the number the moment a call ends

MADE TO LOOK RIGHT

• Dark mode, light mode and a pure-black mode for OLED screens
• Pick your own accent colour and chat theme
• Adjustable text size and an option to use your system font
• Automatic contact colours so every conversation is recognisable at a glance

PRIVACY

• Messages has no account system and no cloud sync
• Your SMS, contacts and call log are read on your device to show your conversations, and are never transmitted off it
• Backups are written to storage you choose on your own device
• The app is ad-supported; ads are served by Google AdMob, which uses your advertising ID

Set Messages as your default SMS app and get a texting experience that stays fast, private and out of your way.
