Bihar Renewable Energy Development Agency (BREDA) is dedicated to advancing Bihar’s renewable energy sector by exploring potential sources and conducting research to identify viable resources. It plays a crucial role in supporting energy generation through renewable sources while assisting both the Government of India and the Government of Bihar in policy formulation.
BREDA actively promotes public awareness through training programs, publications, exhibitions, and conferences. It fosters private sector participation in renewable power projects by creating a favorable policy environment. Additionally, it formulates and implements energy conservation programs, ensuring a sustainable approach to future energy use.
The agency supports large-scale distribution and marketing of standalone renewable energy devices while conducting studies on the environmental impact of energy-related processes. BREDA aims to establish an Energy Resource Centre to collect and collate energy-related data and develop documentation services for the renewable energy sector. Furthermore, it engages in communication and education initiatives to disseminate knowledge about energy and environmental issues, ensuring a greener and more sustainable future for Bihar. BREDA also supports the implementation of a Central Monitoring System (CMS) for streetlights, enabling real-time monitoring, remote operation, and energy optimization to enhance urban lighting efficiency.
