Mura: Private Offline AI Chat

Mura is a private AI assistant that runs entirely on your phone. Your conversations never leave the device: no account, no subscription, no servers in the middle. Download a model once and chat as much as you like.

Private by design
Every message is processed on-device. Nothing is uploaded, logged, or sent to the cloud, and nothing you type is sent for analytics. Chats and photos are stored locally and kept out of cloud backup.

Works offline
Because the language model runs locally, Mura works on a plane, in the subway, or anywhere with no signal. The internet is needed once, to download the model you pick.

Choose your local LLM
Browse a curated catalog of open models and pick the one that fits your phone:
- Qwen3 0.6B: compact and multilingual, a good first model on 4 GB devices
- Qwen2.5 0.5B: a CPU-only build for phones that struggle with accelerated runtimes
- Gemma 4 E2B: the balanced mid-range choice, with image understanding
- Gemma 4 E4B: for flagship phones that want longer context and stronger answers

Mura reads your device memory, recommends what will actually run, and shows the download size before you commit. Models come from Hugging Face at a pinned revision, and every file is SHA-256 verified before it is installed. Interrupted downloads resume.

Ask about a photo
Attach a picture from your camera or gallery and ask about it. Gemma 4 models look at the image directly; with text-only models Mura falls back to on-device text recognition, so you can still pull the words off a receipt, a sign, or a page of notes. Images are handled on the device too.

Built for real work
Explain a complicated topic, draft and tidy up writing, work through math step by step, write and explain code, translate, practice a language, or pass the time with a story or a quiz. Replies stream in as they are generated and render as Markdown, including tables and code blocks.

Keep your history
Conversations are saved on the device, with search to find anything you have discussed. Rename them, copy any reply, or export a whole chat as a Markdown file to wherever you choose.

Make it yours
Give the assistant standing instructions, switch between light and dark themes or follow the system setting, and delete a single chat, every chat, or every downloaded model whenever you want.

Multilingual
Chat in English, Spanish, French, German, and more, depending on the model you choose.

What this is
Mura is an offline chatbot: an open language model small enough to live on a phone, with no cloud behind it. It is quick and genuinely private, but a small on-device AI can still get things wrong, so check anything that matters. Larger models give better answers and ask for more memory and storage in return.
