PopPond: Arabic for Beginners APP
PopPond is an Arabic learning app for kids and for adult beginners. Most apps teach only textbook Arabic. PopPond teaches the Arabic your family actually speaks.
The Arabic alphabet
The Arabic alphabet book teaches Arabic letters one at a time, each with a photograph and a native voice. It is the place most beginners start, whether that is a four year old or an adult learning Arabic from zero.
Seven dialects, in every single word
Choose your voice: Fusha (Modern Standard Arabic), Lebanese Arabic, Egyptian Arabic, Syrian Arabic, Palestinian Arabic, Moroccan Darija or Algerian Darija.
Tap any picture and hear a native speaker say that word in the dialect you chose. Switch dialect any time and the whole library switches with you. If the Egyptian voice says otta and the Moroccan voice says musha, that is because they are two different words, not two pronunciations of one.
Fifteen picture books, more than 100 Arabic words
Alongside the alphabet: Animals, Colors, Numbers, Fruits and Vegetables, Things That Go, Around the House, At the Table, In the Bathroom, In the Kitchen, In My Room, Nature, Shapes, My Body and Clothes.
Every picture is a real photograph, not clip-art. Every Arabic word is recorded by a native speaker of that dialect. No text to speech, no single voice imitating seven accents.
Arabic for kids
For children, PopPond works as a first Arabic app. No reading required, no grammar, no drills. A picture, a word and a voice, simple enough for a young child to use beside a parent. It suits toddlers, preschool and early primary, and it is built to be calm rather than noisy.
Arabic for beginners
For adults starting from zero, the same books work as Arabic flashcards. Learn Arabic vocabulary you will actually say out loud, in the dialect people around you actually speak, with correct pronunciation from the first tap. No verb tables. No conjugation charts.
For heritage learners who understand more Arabic than they speak, the dialect switch is the reason to be here.
For families raising bilingual children
The dialect choice is the whole point. A grandmother in Beirut and a grandmother in Casablanca do not say the same word, and a child who learns only Fusha cannot talk to either of them. Pick the Arabic your family speaks and your child learns that one.
Learn Arabic offline
Fully offline once installed. In the car, on a plane, at grandparents' house with no wifi, every word and every dialect still plays. No data used.
No advertising of any kind. No sign-up, no account, nothing to create before the first word plays. A parental gate stands between small hands and anything a parent should decide.
PopPond. Arabic that sounds like home.
