Dashkam turns your Android phone into a reliable, battery-efficient dashcam — no extra hardware required. Mount your phone in your vehicle, tap Start, and Dashkam records continuously while you drive.
KEY FEATURES
• Continuous loop recording — segments of 1, 3, or 5 minutes; oldest unlocked clips are overwritten automatically so you never run out of space.
• Background recording — keeps recording when you minimize the app, switch to navigation, or take a phone call. A persistent notification shows recording status.
• Picture-in-picture preview — press Home during recording and a small preview window stays visible on screen so you can monitor the camera while using other apps.
• Emergency clip lock — tap once to protect the current clip. Locked clips are excluded from loop overwrite and stored separately so you never lose important footage.
• Built-in playback gallery — review, scrub, share, lock, and delete clips from inside the app.
• Configurable quality — 480p or 720p capture, 24 or 30 fps. Pick what suits your storage and battery budget.
• Smart storage — choose a 5 or 10 GB quota. Dashkam shows you how many hours of recording fit at the current quality.
• Thermal protection — automatic screen dimming when the device heats up to keep recording stable on long drives.
• Crash-safe recording — fragmented MP4 means a partial clip stays playable even if the app or device is killed mid-recording.
• Local-only storage — clips never leave your device. Optional Google Sign-In is for future cloud features only.
