EV Simulator: Range & Energy APP

How much of an EV battery would your drive use? EV Simulator works it out while you drive the car you already have. It turns your real route into the energy, range and charging cost an electric vehicle would need for the same trip.

Rated EV range and consumption come from standardized test cycles. Your commute isn't a test cycle. Hills, traffic, highway speeds and how hard you accelerate all change how much energy an electric car uses. EV Simulator runs the physics on your actual trip, so the results are for your route, not an average.

WHAT YOU SEE WHILE YOU DRIVE
• Energy used in kWh and consumption in kWh/100 km or kWh/100 mi, updated live
• A power ring that shows how hard the car is working, with an "R" when regenerative braking recovers energy
• Battery level draining in real time, and the kWh left
• Speed, distance, trip time, elevation change, average speed and stops

TRIP RESULTS
• Charging cost: what it would cost to recharge the energy the trip used, at your own electricity price and currency
• Battery used: the share of the battery the trip needed
• Range left: how far the remaining charge would go at that trip's consumption
• Grid CO2: the carbon behind the electricity, using your grid's intensity
• Trip history with running totals of distance, energy, average consumption, charging cost and CO2

VEHICLES
Choose from 14 reference electric vehicles with their battery size, weight and aerodynamics: Tesla Model 3, Model Y and Model X, Hyundai IONIQ 5, Kia EV6 GT, Volkswagen ID.4, Ford Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning, Chevrolet Bolt EV, BMW i4, Cadillac LYRIQ, and BYD Atto 3, Seal and Dolphin. Or set up a custom car, SUV, van or truck with your own weight and size.

HOW IT WORKS
Every second, EV Simulator reads your speed and elevation from GPS. A physics model calculates the energy an electric vehicle would need to accelerate its mass, overcome aerodynamic drag and climb hills, including drivetrain losses and the energy recovered by regenerative braking.

WHO IT'S FOR
• Thinking about an electric car? Check whether an EV's range covers your commute, and what charging would cost, before you buy.
• Choosing between EVs? Drive your usual route with one model, switch, and compare consumption and range.
• Curious how driving style matters? See how speed, hills and braking change energy use.
• Planning fleet electrification? Estimate energy and electricity cost for real routes.

GOOD TO KNOW
• You don't need an electric car. Drive any car, or ride as a passenger.
• Results are estimates from physics and published specifications. Real consumption also depends on temperature, heating or air conditioning, tyres, payload and battery condition.
• Charging cost uses your price per kWh and doesn't include charger losses.
• Metric and US units.
• No account and no subscription. Your trip history stays on your phone.
• Optional daily reminder to record your drive.

Please drive safely. Start a trip before you set off, keep your eyes on the road, and use a phone mount or let a passenger handle the app.
