Pre-Purchase Car Inspection APP

Finish the pre-purchase inspection where the car is standing. Hand the file over before you drive away.

Your client is four hundred miles from the car and about to wire money on your say-so. What they are buying is a used car inspection report another mechanic could pick apart: numbers taken at the vehicle, photographs filed against the item they belong to, and a signature under the recommendation. Every measurable thing gets a figure. Every claim gets a photograph.

SIX STARTING TEMPLATES, ALL OF THEM YOURS
Sedan, hatch and SUV. Pickup and van. EV and PHEV. Classic. Motorcycle. Import and JDM. About six hundred items between them: a multi point automotive checklist you reshape, with test-drive sections alongside. Add, delete, reorder, reweight, duplicate, save your own. The structure freezes into the inspection the moment you start it, so editing a template later never rewrites a report already sent.

THREE WAYS TO GET THE VIN IN
The barcode scanner takes it off the door-jamb label, the text reader takes it off the windshield, or you type the seventeen characters with the keyboard filtered to legal ones. I becomes 1, O and Q become 0, and the ISO 3779 check digit has to pass before the VIN is accepted; a failure hands back up to three corrected candidates. The VIN decoder reads model year, region and maker on the handset, no signal needed.

WHAT NHTSA GIVES BACK
The VIN goes to the public NHTSA vPIC database for make, model, year, body and engine, and to the NHTSA recall database for campaigns still open against that car. Recalls print in the report word for word, with the source named. Out of range, both requests queue and run themselves when you are back on; every decoded field stays editable, and what you typed always beats what came back.

MEASUREMENTS, NOT OPINIONS
Tread at three points across every tire and the spare, in 32nds or millimetres, flagged at a threshold you set, with a warning when one shoulder is going faster than the other. The DOT code becomes a week, a year and an age. Brake pad life as a percentage at each corner, rotors in five states. Paint thickness in microns, with any panel more than 30% off the median called out. Fluids by level and condition. Damage lands as pins on a fourteen-panel body diagram and an undercarriage diagram, photographs attached, drawn as vectors into the PDF rather than pasted in as screenshots.

FAULT CODES FROM THE CAR ITSELF
An ELM327 over Bluetooth returns stored codes, pending codes and readiness monitors. Clearing codes is deliberately absent: wiping a seller's memory destroys the evidence you were hired to find. No adapter, no obstacle — type them, or record that no scan was done and why.

A SCORE THAT SHOWS ITS ARITHMETIC
Score is 100 minus each finding's penalty times the weight of its section, and both the formula and the section-by-section breakdown print inside the report. Proceed, negotiate or walk away; the reason box wants twenty words before the signature pad will open.

NOTHING LEAVES THE PHONE
No sign-up, no portal, no server of ours. Every tap, note and photograph is written to storage as you make it, so two hours of work survives a dead battery. Once signed, the report locks as evidence. No advertising.

WHAT LEAVES WITH THE CLIENT
• Full PDF report — cover, score badge, every section with its photographs, diagrams, tire and brake tables, recalls with source, signature page
• Two-page summary PDF
• ZIP of full-size photographs by section, with manifest.csv and a SHA-256 per file
• CSV of every item, tire, brake corner, panel, pin and recall
• Backup of the database and photographs to a folder you choose
