Situation Guide - SOYOGI APP
This app is not a substitute for medical care. In an emergency, call 119 (ambulance) or 110 (police) in Japan, or a helpline.
■Phrase book (Japanese only)
50 Japanese expressions that are often used to mean something other than their literal words, such as "kento shimasu" ("we will consider it"). Each entry shows the literal meaning, likely meanings (candidates), and one line to check. Meanings differ by person and moment, so they are shown as common candidates, not as the answer; when in doubt, asking is the surest way. Search by word or narrow down by situation. The phrase book is in Japanese only.
■My scripts
Write what you say and do in each situation. "My rules", where you keep the rules you decided for yourself, is here too. You can also start a script draft from a phrase book entry. "Show large" displays it in large text.
■Check before speaking
Write what you are about to say, answer four questions in order (Who is the other person? Where? When? How might they feel hearing it?) and look back at your answers. Saving is up to you (up to 30).
■Write afterward
Keep what did not go well in four steps, without blame: what happened, what I noticed later, what to try next, and what I can ask for. Read them back later by situation tag.
■Call now
While listening on the phone, fill in four fields: from, matter, by when, and call back to. Numbers show large, and only the latest 5 are kept. Four phrases for asking again, such as "Could you say that again slowly?", are also shown.
■Export as text
Scripts, notes on what went wrong, and saved checks can be exported as text, chapter by chapter, and copied. Before copying, you can hide other people's names, company names and phone numbers on that screen (your saved notes do not change).
■About this app
One of the free welfare apps from SOYOGI, a care and support consultation service in Japan. Fully offline, anonymous, no ads, no sign-up. Your scripts, notes and settings are stored only on your device and are never sent anywhere. Exported text leaves the app only when you tap "Copy".
This app is not a substitute for medical care. In an emergency, call your local emergency number or contact a local support service.
