Tafsir al-Jalalain is a famous book of commentary on the Qur'an, which was originally compiled by Jalaluddin al-Mahalli in 1459, and then continued by his student Jalaluddin as-Suyuthi in 1505. This book of commentary is generally considered to be a classic Sunni commentary book. which is often used as a reference, because it is considered easy to understand and consists of only one volume.

Jalaludin al-Mahalli started writing the tafsir from the beginning of Surah Al-Kahf to the end of Surah An-Naas, after that he interpreted Surah Al-Fatihah until the end. Al-Mahalli then died before he could continue. Jalaluddin as-Suyuthi then continued, and started from surah Al-Baqarah to surah Al-Isra'. Then he placed the interpretation of surah Al-Fatihah at the end of the previous sequence of interpretations of Al-Mahalli. However, there are still differences of opinion regarding the level of work of each interpreter.
