Anyway, APP

Anyway, is a bubble-popping toy for people who have had enough of their day.

Open it. Bubbles drift up the screen over a sky. Tap one and it is gone: a small synthesized pop, a little vibration, a ring of droplets thrown outward. Drag a finger through the field and it clears a path. Tilt the phone and the field drifts toward the raised edge. That is the whole toy. Leave whenever you like. Nothing is waiting for you when you come back.

About one bubble in five has something to say, and flashes a short line as it goes. "Finally." "It is what it is." "Good enough." The lines are part written and part generated, so the field keeps making its own small remarks without repeating itself at you.

One tap to set the mood

Calm, Normal, Chaos, Kids. Each chip writes several settings at once. Normal is the app exactly as it ships, which is always the way back. Calm is the quiet end: the emptiest field, less motion, no vibration, and a drag that pushes bubbles aside rather than popping them. Chaos is the loud one: the fullest field, and the screen itself starts misbehaving when you pop fast enough. Kids is the one you tap before you hand your phone to a child. It switches to child-safe words and offers the screen lock, and it asks before it arms it.

Choose what it says

Four sets of words, exactly one active at a time. General, for any kind of day. Kids, for when a young child is holding your phone. NSFW, for a day that earned it. Office meeting, for the other kind of day. The sets never mix, which is what lets Kids mean Kids. A tone switch runs across all of them: sincere, or sarcastic.

Choose what a bubble is made of

Bubble: soap film. They drift through each other, and a pop scatters droplets.
Glass: glass balls. They sink, knock into each other, and a pop shatters them.
Balloon: party balloons on strings. They nose each other aside, and a pop bursts them.

What costs money

One payment unlocks everything paid, forever: the NSFW and Office meeting words, the Glass and Balloon materials, and anything paid added later. No subscription, no second purchase, no coins. Everything else is free.

Things you can turn on

• Swipe to pop: on from the start, and off under Calm. With it off, a drag pushes bubbles aside like water.
• Blow to stir: blow at the phone and the bubbles lift and gather. Needs the Microphone switch.
• Shout to pop: yell and a handful burst, largest first, never the whole field. Needs the Microphone switch.
• Speak phrases: the lines are read aloud, in whichever voice your phone already uses.
• Screen lock: Settings goes away, and getting out takes a two-second hold, then your fingerprint, PIN or pattern, if you have one set.
• Reduce stimulation: turns off the surprise effects, the extra motion and the glitches.

The microphone never opens until you switch it on, and it closes when you leave the app. Nothing it hears is recorded, stored or sent.

What it does not do

No accounts. No ads. No analytics, no tracking, nothing sent anywhere. No streaks, no daily rewards, no notifications asking you to come back, no reason at all to open it except that you want to. It works with no internet, except to make the one purchase.

Nothing here ships as artwork or audio files. Every bubble is drawn and every pop is synthesized on your phone as it happens, which is why the app is small and why no two sessions sound quite the same.

Some word packs contain adult language.
