ForestVPN: Hide IP, Secure VPN APP
No sign-up: no email, no password, no card.
Android's VpnService sends your apps' traffic through an encrypted tunnel to a ForestVPN server, hiding your IP address from the sites you use.
FREE TIER
Up to 5 connections a day. A connection ends at 2 GB or after 24 hours, whichever comes first, or sooner when your data allowance runs low. It does not slow down before it ends; a notification warns you as its data runs low. The Account screen shows how many are left today.
WHEN IT GOES WRONG
ForestVPN reads its packet counters and reports the tunnel's state, where any fault is and how sure it is, and reconnects by itself after a move from Wi-Fi to mobile data.
ONE TAP
The first-screen ring connects and disconnects; so does a Quick Settings tile, which may open the app first. A searchable location list shows each location's plan and whether it is accepting connections yet.
KILL SWITCH
While ForestVPN runs, traffic stays in the tunnel through drops and reconnects unless a retry cannot fix the cause, which the app says.
SPLIT TUNNELING
On phones and tablets, pick apps that skip the VPN. On Android 13+, a printer or other local device can stay reachable.
DNS CONTENT BLOCKING
Pick a filtering DNS provider that screens malware or adult content, or up to three resolvers of your own.
CONNECT AUTOMATICALLY
ForestVPN can connect by itself on mobile data, open Wi-Fi (Android 13+), and after a restart.
THE TUNNEL
• Quantum, built on WireGuard's Noise handshake: X25519, ChaCha20-Poly1305 and BLAKE2s.
• Handshake and keepalive packets are padded to a varying size, except after a fallback to a standard WireGuard handshake.
WHAT WE DO NOT KEEP
No column anywhere for the sites you visit or the names you look up. One row ties your device, and any linked account, to each session it pays for, to meter data and cut off a revoked device; it is deleted an hour after the session settles, or up to 17 days later for an unused ticket. Which exit a session used is erased when it ends.
WHAT WE DO COLLECT
Per device: public key, platform, registration time, day last seen, any name you give it, any account link, data and connection counts per day (kept 31 days), and counts per month and any block with its reason (kept indefinitely). Each ticket request's country and network provider, and each connection's data use, are logged under a pseudonym for three months, to spot abuse and set limits. If you subscribe, your Google Play purchase token. ForestVPN adds no analytics or crash-reporting SDK.
ACCOUNT NUMBER
A 32-character account number, with no email or password, shares a subscription across linked devices. Only deleting the account unlinks a device; the app warns you before you link.
PAID PLAN
One paid plan, sold through Google Play, with price and billing period shown before you tap Continue. Cancel in Google Play, linked from the Account screen; you return to the free tier when the paid period ends.
