FUNGIPEDIA IS AN ESSENTIAL TOOL FOR THE STUDY OF FUNGI AND MUSHROOMS, PROVIDING AMATEUR MYCOLOGISTS AND FORAGERS WITH THE SUPPORT NEEDED TO ACCURATELY IDENTIFY DIFFERENT SPECIES.

The new version is fully integrated with the fungipedia.org platform and features a catalog of more than 500 species, accompanied by over 2,500 photographs and more than 1,500 microscopic studies.

This mushroom foraging and identification app allows you to build your own PRIVATE on-device database of GEOREFERENCED foraging spots. Using your device's GPS, the application lets you log the precise coordinates of your favorite mushroom patches, grouping them by custom ZONES. This advanced georeferencing system not only stores coordinates, but also lets you attach field photographs to each location and features an integrated navigation tool to guide you straight back to the spot on your next field trip.

Starting in version 3.0.0, you can also log custom points of interest (parking spots, foraging permit kiosks, natural springs, etc.) using the same workflow. It also introduces offline map downloads so you can navigate without mobile network coverage, as well as a dedicated tool to SAVE YOUR CAR’S LOCATION.

The app allows you to link saved foraging spots to species in the SPECIES CATALOG. Furthermore, if you wish to GEOREFERENCE a species not currently listed in the database, the app allows you to register and create new custom species. Future releases will introduce advanced collaborative features designed for mycological societies and study groups researching fungal biodiversity.

While it is ALWAYS strictly necessary to consult a certified expert before consuming any wild mushroom you are not fully certain of, if you forage wild edible mushrooms, FUNGIPEDIA will help you safely rule out look-alikes directly in the field. This prevents unnecessary harvesting—allowing fungi to continue fulfilling their essential ecological roles in the ecosystem—and helps avoid potentially fatal poisonings. To assist you, the entries for the most common edible species include a dedicated "Look-alikes" button, highlighting dangerous or toxic toxic doubles commonly mistaken for that species.

Starting from version 3.0.0, as long as mobile network service is available, you can also submit field photographs directly to our community forum to receive identification assistance (requires a registered account on fungipedia.org).

NO INTERNET COVERAGE IN THE WOODS?

No problem! An active internet connection is only required during initial installation and when downloading image packs right after setup. We also recommend testing the GEOLOCATION features for the first time while in an area with good network coverage and cellular data enabled, ensuring map caching works smoothly. While in the field, keeping cellular data on—if coverage exists—helps the device achieve an assisted GPS (A-GPS) lock in seconds rather than taking minutes to calculate satellite ephemeris data in remote offline areas.
