Dextop APP
Dextop is completely free and open source. Its source code is public for transparency, and anyone can suggest features, report improvements, or contribute code to add their own improvements to the app.
Open several apps as freeform windows, arrange them like a PC, and save the layout for later. No external monitor or computer is required. On foldable devices such as the Galaxy Z Fold, the inner display becomes a larger desktop workspace.
Getting started
Choose a resolution and orientation, then tap Start. The first run guides you through Wireless debugging setup inside the app. A computer is not required.
What you can do
- Run apps in freeform windows and multitask side by side
- Choose automatic or custom resolution, DPI, portrait, landscape, and 180-degree rotation
- Switch between direct touch and cursor input
- Select virtual touchpad, virtual mouse, or Dextop software cursor input
- Use click, drag, two-finger scrolling, pinch zoom, right click, and horizontal scrolling
- Use physical mice and keyboards on supported devices
- Cast the desktop with Google Cast / Chromecast or show it on external displays
- Record only the Dextop desktop display
- Use secure display mode for protected content
Control overlay
Open Dextop's control overlay with a three-finger edge swipe. Without closing your work, change input mode, volume, brightness, resolution, orientation, 180-degree rotation, apps, workspaces, Google Cast, temporary Android return, or end the session. Three-finger tap, two-finger tap, and long press actions are customizable.
Workspaces
Save your frequently used apps and window arrangement as a workspace, then restore everything together later. Two-, three-, and four-pane layouts, wide, narrow, and vertical layouts are supported. Duplicate, reorder, import, export, and share workspaces as JSON.
Laptop mode for foldables
On supported foldables, Dextop can detect a half-open posture and provide Laptop mode. The upper half of the screen remains your desktop while the lower half becomes a US-layout keyboard and trackpad. The keyboard supports long press and repeat input, Ctrl-style shortcuts, themes, and haptic feedback. The trackpad supports click, drag, right click, and two-finger scrolling.
Multiple displays
When an external display is connected, Dextop can save and restore the display arrangement. Display topology lets you move the pointer between Dextop displays. Dextop selects the best available display method for each device and can fall back to a compatibility method when necessary.
Compatibility
Samsung Galaxy devices with Samsung DeX provide the most complete experience. Android desktop mode devices, including Google Pixel 8 and later, are also supported. Requires Android 11 or later.

Performance overlay with FPS, refresh rate, memory, battery, and estimated power use; Quick Settings tile; notifications; screenshots; temporary Android return; and interrupted-session recovery.
Accessibility permission
The AccessibilityService is used only to deliver touch and gesture input that you perform in Dextop to its desktop display. It does not collect or transmit content from other apps.
